Reflection of learning journey

For the past 9 weeks, I have gain knowledge of the different writing skills needed for the different type of essay. For example, the key steps of extracting main points to form a summary and also the correct way of citation. Comparing from my previous English standard, I felt that I have improved in be able in taking out the important points as well as better grammar. From future lesson, I would like to learn more type of essay structure that I may need to use in my 4 years of education in National University of Singapore. Although I mentioned that I have better grammar, but I must not be too complacent and be proactive so as to learn more. To improve my grammar, there are also the 15 grammar exercises to be completed on IVLE.

The feedback given by my teacher, Dr Misty is clear and direct. It allowed me to know which area I have gone wrong. However, there are some changes that I did not make as I did not know the correct way to approach the error. I am quite confident in making changes as Dr Misty have shown us our predecessors’ work for us to pinpoint the mistakes. Through these exercises, it allowed us to have an opportunity to learn through mistakes. I did better than expected for my summary but my reader response was worse than I estimated. I guess I have not truly understood some points of the reader response. I will not say that my English have improved tremendously but they have definitely helped my significantly.
